Domain Registration FAQs
Answers about registering, transferring, renewing, and managing domain names.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the web address people use to visit your website, such as example.com.
Can I register a domain without hosting?
Yes. You can register and manage a domain separately from web hosting. Hosting can be added later.
Can I use a domain registered elsewhere?
Yes. You can point an externally registered domain to Global MCS hosting by updating its nameservers or DNS records.
Does the domain price include renewal?
Registration and renewal prices may differ by extension. Review the renewal price before completing your order.
Can I transfer my domain to Global MCS?
Most eligible domains can be transferred after they are unlocked and the required authorization code is provided. Certain registry restrictions may apply.
What is domain privacy?
Domain privacy helps limit the public display of personal registration information where supported by the domain extension and registry.
How long does DNS setup take?
DNS changes may begin working quickly but can take up to the record’s caching or propagation period to appear everywhere.
Can I change my domain name later?
A registered domain name cannot normally be renamed. You would need to register a different domain and redirect or migrate the website.
