Domain Registration FAQs
Answers about registering, transferring, renewing, and managing domain names.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the web address people use to visit your website, such as example.com.
Can I register a domain without hosting?
Yes. You can register and manage a domain separately from web hosting. Hosting can be added later.
Can I use a domain registered elsewhere?
Yes. Keep your domain at its current registrar and use either external DNS with the exact Global MCS hosting records supplied for your account, or the assigned Global MCS nameservers if choosing managed DNS. Preserve existing email and other service records before changing DNS delegation.
Does the domain price include renewal?
Registration and renewal prices may differ by extension. Review the renewal price before completing your order.
Can I transfer my domain to Global MCS?
Most eligible domains can be transferred after they are unlocked and the required authorization code is provided. Certain registry restrictions may apply. Enter any authorization code only in the verified transfer-order workflow, not in public or support chat.
What is domain privacy?
Domain privacy helps limit the public display of personal registration information where supported by the domain extension and registry.
How long does DNS setup take?
DNS changes often start working within a few hours, but allow up to 48 hours as a general estimate. Existing record TTLs, resolver caches, and registry updates affect timing; this is not a guaranteed deadline. Check that the authoritative DNS records are correct; waiting will not fix an incorrect record.
Can I change my domain name later?
A registered domain name cannot normally be renamed. You would need to register a different domain and redirect or migrate the website.
