VPS Hosting FAQs
Answers about VPS resources, operating systems, support scope, backups, and security responsibilities.
What is a virtual private server (VPS)?
A VPS is an isolated virtual server with allocated CPU, memory, storage, and network resources. It provides more control and flexibility than shared hosting at a lower cost than a physical dedicated server.
What is included with a VPS plan?
Each plan includes the selected virtual CPU, memory, SSD storage, monthly data transfer allowance, operating system image, public networking, and root or administrator access.
What can I run on a VPS?
You can host business applications, websites, online stores, APIs, databases, and development environments. With root or administrator access, you choose and configure the software stack for your workload.
Which operating systems are available?
VPS plans are available with Linux or Windows Server operating system images. Windows plans include licensing in the selected plan price unless otherwise stated in your quote.
Is this a managed VPS?
These VPS plans are self-managed by default. All plans include infrastructure monitoring and technical support for the hosting environment. Application installation, server hardening, migrations, and ongoing administration are available as additional services.
Who is responsible for securing my VPS?
Customers are responsible for server and application security configuration unless they purchase a managed administration or security service. We monitor infrastructure and assist with hosting-environment issues.
Are backups included with my VPS?
Backups are not included by default. Optional snapshots or backup services are available for an additional fee.
How do I configure a VPS?
Use the VPS configurator to choose your server region, operating system, plan type, network option, and server size. Then set an instance name and quantity to continue to checkout.
Are email accounts included with a VPS?
No. VPS plans provide the server environment but do not automatically include mailbox hosting. Email hosting is available separately via our Email Hosting Plans or third-party providers.
